912 UL

From Matronics

A snowmobile engine noted for it's frequent and costly maintenance bulletins.

I thought this engine was a very reliable and economical operating engine since it is used in Light Sport Aircraft.I don't understand the frequent bullitins?

[following text added by Rowland Carson] I was not aware of this engine being used in snowmobiles - I believe it is only used in aviation applications. Perhaps the original compiler was thinking of one of the Rotax family of 2-stroke engines (typically in-line twin-cylinder). The 912UL is a 4-stroke engine, in the 4-cylinder horizontally-opposed layout (similar to the Volkswagen or small Lycoming/Continental engines), but liquid cooled. Traffic on the Europa list does not seem to indicate frequent or costly maintenance bulletins.
